The Bulgarian Patriarch Neophyte and the new Ambassador of the Republic of Greece, His Excellency Dimitrios Chronopoulos, expressed their willingness to strengthen the Bulgarian-Greek relations and continue the cooperation between the two peoples in good spirits. Today, they held a meeting at the Holy Metropolis of Sofia while the new ambassador used the opportunity to thank for the honour of being received by the primate of the Bulgarian Church.
He pointed out that it was indeed his desire to meet the Bulgarian Patriarch immediately after the state protocol meetings. During the assembly, a number of diplomatic, political, and church questions regarding the good relations between Bulgaria and Greece were raised. His Excellency conveyed greetings to Patriarch Neophyte on behalf of the primate of the Greek Orthodox Church, Archbishop Hieronymos, and of the Greek President, Mr. Procopius Pavlopoulos. He put an emphasis on the economical partnerships our nations share, but also on our affiliation with the Orthodox faith.
Bulgarian Patriarch Neophyte, the Bishop Polykarp of Belogradchik, Vicar of the Metropolitan of Sofia, archimandrite Vasiliy, Protosingelos of the Metropoliten of Sofia, and ec. Nikolay Georgiev, Head of the Public Relations Department of the Holy Synod also took part in the meeting.
The admission passed with wishes for successful term of office of the H.E. Ambassador and hopes for future partnerships, mutual projects, and the further development of the brotherly and friendly relations between the two countries.
