10.00   Beginning of the registration of the Patriarchal Electoral Church Council (PECC) delegates in the Office of the Holy Synod, in the Supreme Church Council room, by the Authorization Committee.

18:00  Bishop’s vespers in the ancient church "St. Sofia", presided by Metropolitan Seraphim of Nevrokop. The evening service is to be attended by Primates and representatives of the Local Orthodox Churches, their delegations, as well as the PECC delegates and other guests.

Synaxis of the Holy Twelve Apostles

09:00  Welcoming the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and the representatives of the Local Orthodox Churches in the Metropolitan Cathedral "St. Nedelya".

10:45   A short memorial service (trisagion) at the tomb of the recently departed Metropolitan of Sofia and Bulgarian Patriarch Neophyte of blessed memory under the southern colonnade of the Metropolitan Cathedral.

Synaxis of the Holy Twelve Apostles

5:15–7:25  Morning service and Divine Liturgy with the specific petitions provided for when a Church Council is opened, in the Synodical Chapel “Saint Boris-Mihail, Righteous and Equal of the apostles, Prince and Baptizer of Bulgaria”, presided by Archimandrite Evtimiy – Spiritual Supervisor of Sofia Diocese.  The services in the Synodical Palace chapel are to be attended by the Deputy Chairman of the Holy Synod, the diocesan metropolitans – members of the Holy Synod, the bishops of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church – Bulgarian Patriarchate assigned by the Holy Synod, and the PECC delegates.

7:30–8:00  The Authorization Committee, in accordance with Art. 46, Para. 1 of the Statute of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church – Bulgarian Patriarchate, checks the names of the attending delegates and the validity of their authorization.

8:00 The Deputy Chairman of the Holy Synod and the diocesan metropolitans, followed by the bishops, lead the PECC delegates  from the Reception Hall of the Synodical Palace to the Academic Hall of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS).

8:10–8:20  The PECC members take their assigned places in the Academic Hall of BAS.

8:20–8:30 A short praying service at the Council opening presided the Deputy Chairman of the Holy Synod.

8:30  Declaring of the Patriarchal Electoral Church Council open.

8:35–8:50 Electing an Electoral Commission by an open ballot.

8:50–9:00 The PECC members move within the building of the Holy Synod in accordance with a pre-defined order.

9:10–9:15  Official and public sealing of the ballot box.

9:15–12:00 Voting. 

14:30  Announcing the name of the newly elected Bulgarian Patriarch.

The newly elected Bulgarian Patriarch, the diocesan metropolitans and the bishops from the Bulgarian Orthodox Church – Bulgarian Patriarchate depart in a procession from the Synodical Palace to the Patriarchal Cathedral "St. Alexander Nevsky", where the Primates and representatives of the Local Orthodox Churches who have arrived for the event are waiting for them at their assigned honourable places in the Cathedral.

15:00–17:45  Enthronement of the newly elected Bulgarian Patriarch and a prayer service.
