On November 27, at the Theological Faculty of Sofia University, at the invitation of the Dean Prof. Ivaylo Naydenov, a meeting was held, attended by the Minister of Education Mr. Krasimir Valchev and his team: Deputy Minister Tanya Mihaylova, Mrs. Radostina Novakova - Director of the Qualification and Career Development Directorate at the Ministry of Education, p.h.d. Kliment Hristov - Director of the Public Relations and Protocol Directorate, as well as part of the Expert Council on Religion: Metropolitan John of Varna and Veliki Preslav, prof. Makariev - Chairman of the Expert Council on Religion, prof. Easy stupa prof. Omarchevski, prof. Andonov Kosta Kostov, Rosica Georgieva and management of the Theological Faculty: Prof. Damyanova, Prof. Pavlov and Prof. Alexandrov.
The main topic of the meeting was the preparation of teachers in additional qualification for the needs of teaching in the subject Religion. In the past year, two such courses were conducted, respectively by the Theological Faculties of SU and VTU. Teachers who study at Faculty of Theology of Sofia University have a state exam (14.12.) And for the successful graduates - solemn presentation of diplomas on the feast of St. Three Saints. According to the plans of the Ministry of Education, this course will be implemented in 2020.
Much of the talk was about ordinances that incorrectly defined the rights of teachers of religion. The minister and his team committed to correcting them as quickly as possible.
Metropolitan John, who is the spiritual mentor of the Sofia Seminary and at the same time a member of the Expert Council on Religion, asked the Minister and the Ministry of education's team some specific questions regarding the programs for seminary, and expressed view and the experience for better selection of teachers to study in the one-year course mentioned above.
The meeting ended with a conversation with Radostina Novakova, which discussed the possibilities of the academic faculty of the Theological Faculty to participate in teacher trainings in various forms of programs and initiatives of the Ministry of Education.
