His Holiness the Bulgarian Patriarch Daniil attended the ceremony marking the 145th anniversary of the establishment of the National Service for Protection. The event took place on September, 12th at the National History Museum. The ceremony was attended by the President Rumen Radev, Prime Minister of the Caretaker Government Dimitar Glavchev, Members of Parliament, constitutional judges, ministers, representatives of the Security and Public Order Services, the Armed Forces, employees and former heads of the National Service for Protection. 145 years ago, Prince Alexander of Battenberg introduced the institution of „princely bodyguards”, which marked the beginning of the National Service for Protection (NSP). With Decree No. 23 of 12th September 1879, the First Sofia Cavalry Regiment was appointed for the personal protection and convoy of Prince Alexander I.
