The Feast of the Holy Apostle Andrew the First-Called in Sofia

On November 30, the Orthodox Church celebrates the memory of St. Andrew the First-Called.

On this occasion in the church "Holy Apostle Andrew the First-Called”, a solemn hierarch's Holy Liturgy was performed in Sofia.

With the blessing of His Holiness the Metropolitan of Sofia and Bulgarian Patriarch Neophyte, the liturgy was celebrated by His Eminence Bishop Polycarp of Belogradchik, Vicar of the Metropolitan of Sofia, in cooperation with many clergymen from Sofia.

After the Holy Liturgy, Bishop Polycarp read the Address of the Bulgarian Patriarch Neophyte on the occasion of the holiday. In his word, His Holiness says: "The live of St. Andrew the First-Called and of all the apostles of Christ are an example, a blessing and a calling for all of us, whom the Lord also gathers every day in His Church to make us hunters of men - in the times and places where He has set us... We are all apostles of Christ, following the example of St. Andrew, called by our lives, words and deeds to be heralds of the "auspicious year of the Lord" (Luke 4:19)".

Bishop Polycarp greeted all on behalf of His Holiness the Metropolitan of Sofia and Bulgarian Patriarch Neophyte and wished them to be always under the protection of St. Andrew, growing and establishing themselves in virtue before God.
