November 30 is a special day for the people of Varna, honoring the memory of the first-called Apostle of Christ - St. Andrew, who preached the Word, the Light of the world on the lands of the North Black Sea, and the city of Odesopolis or Odessos - today Varna. On this joyous occasion in the magnificent church, dedicated in honor of the apostle Andrew, His Eminence Metropolitan John of Varna and Veliki Preslav celebrated the Holy Liturgy.
His Eminence brought to the church a part of the holy relics of the apostle Andrew, which in 2006 were brought to the Metropolitan Cathedral "The Dormition of our Most Holy Lady the Mother of God and Ever-Virgin Mary" during the service of Metropolitan Cyril of Varna and Veliki Preslav.
In his speech, Metropolitan John noted that reverence for St. Andrew the Apostle is extremely important "with the clear understanding that the Lord, in glorifying His people, leaves their incorruptible bodies so that we may have spiritual treasures in the face of their holy relics".
